Family lore says that I held my first kite line at age two and a half. Kites have been an important part of my life ever since. I started flying stunt kites in the mid-to-late-70's, with an early Peter Powell diamond, which at age 7 or 8 I could barely hold on to! (or at least that's how it felt at the time. I wasn't nearly so fearless as Alex Mason is...)

I never lost my interest in single line kites, though, as can be seen in the wide variety of kites I own, both homemade and store-bought.

I started sewing my own kites about 5 years ago. There's nothing to compete with the feeling of flying something you've made yourself.
